Day 11 - Richmond to Danby Wiske

The rape crop is already at its most powerful in colour....and strong recognisable smell.

Apparently there was a Roman town near Catterick called Cataractonium. Perhaps Roman squaddies became British ones!?

We were joined by two other C2C walkers when we crossed under the A1(M) before having our picnic lunch with some hairy Scotsmen!

Then on to the community kitchen at St. Mary's, Bolton on Swale, where there's a memorial to Henry Jenkins who reputedly lived to the grand old age of 169!!!! That's what walking the C2C does for you!!!! St. Mary's is apparently in the parish of Easby, Skeeby. ...not the place you'd want to get the heebee jeebees!!
We realised that today, in the space of 12 miles, the prevailing farming has gone from sheep, to cattle and then cattle to arable. We're walking in to big field country in the flat bit that separates the Yorkshire Dales from the North York Moors.

Moo!!

Finally past a splendid tree-house to the White Swan at Danby Wiske for an early (that means EARLY) supper. The sign says 60 miles to Robin Hoods Bay!! Not too much further to go!!

Oh , I do love those hairy Scotsmen!😁
